  1. Hi Debbie,

Nice meeting you at the Dublin Zine Fair.

I was wondering if you’d like to do an interview for Irish Comic News. It’s a feature called 7 questions where I ask creators the same 7 questions.

    Thanks,

    David.

  2. Hey Debbie – just came across your wonderful work there and wondering if you might be interested in doing some covers for Le Cool Dublin at some stage?

    Many thanks – Michael

  3. Dear Debbie

I’d love to get involved in the Comics Lab – I have authored and curated an illustrated book of history called The Visual Time Traveller – http://www.thevisualtimetraveller.ie/ – it covers 500 years of history art and science in 100 designs by means of 5-year time jumps. I’m also a bit of a wannabe cartoonist – here is one I’ve put on my blog page http://www.21cr.ie/the-new-td.html to give you a flavour of my style.

I would be delighted if you would consider me as a speaker at the Comics Lab sometime later this year. I’m hoping to come to the next Comics Lab on Tues 9th Feb to introduce my self to you and Sarah and show you the book and how it works. But if it was possible to meet up beforehand to have a coffee and a chat, that would be great (I’m based in Dun Laoghaire or City centre).

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Best wishes
    Alison

    • Thanks, Alison, for your suggestion. Hope to see you at the lab – I’ll consult our schedule about your talk too.

I asked my library to purchase Ghosted, but the Graphic Novel librarian (awww! makes me happy that exists) says they can’t purchase it until you have an American vendor (BAH!). Email me if that happens and I can reach out to them again.

    • Thank you for doing that! I will. It’d be so great to have my books in libraries. I am not too optimistic though about getting an American vendor!
I do know Irish libraries will take them as long as they have an ISBN but you have to talk them into it one by one. Now I am seeing why distributors are nice to have.
      ^_^

Just bought your book! Really looking forward to it, it looks wonderful, no wonder it had won awards already, and has write ups in the pappers and online. Hope you are keeping well, and have a very happy Christmas

    • Thank you so much Johanna, I am very grateful for your purchase! It’s very exciting for a self-publisher to sell their books. let alone have one appear in the paper! It is a matter of huge luck indeed.
When you support a self-publisher like me, you support their dream. THANK YOU.

Hi Debbie, I saw your book Ghosting reviewed in the Irish Times – it looks wonderful and I’ve ordered it on your website (well, not your website, but whatever vehicle your website links to!) – nowhere else seems to have a copy, sadly. Keep producing this beautiful work – I tend to rely on French writers and publishers to get good graphic novels, so it’s great to see someone doing it on this island. Thanks so much.

(PS your recaptcha device isn’t working – or else I really am a robot, which would be worrying!)

    • Hi Ronan! Thank you so much for this encouragement. I hope you like it! Yes, it is sold out, amazingly – it’s too time-consuming to distribute so I only sell it and post it out myself or through the excellent littledeercomics.ie. There are lots of great comic creators in Ireland – Alan Dunne, Sarah Bowie, Luke Healy, Ale Mercado, Matt Melis, Paddy Lynch, Phil Barrett, Charlot Kristensen (I know I’m omitting so many brilliant people!) but often, they have the hard choice of spending time on business/admin getting their self published books out, or making more work – and because they’re artists they choose to make work. It’s a pity because there are loads of great books and anthologies which just disappear after their short run, not having reached all the people who would love them if only they knew where to find them! We need our own distributor but for the moment, we rely on finding our audience through fairs like DCAF, reviews and social media.

    • PS thanks for letting me know about the recaptcha, I’ll try to fix it!
If you’re a robot, you’re very good at mimicking a real human 😀

Gosh Debbie, you’re right. They’re some great talent out there. Keep up the good work.
