This live comic reading thing has taken on a life of its own. It’s cool. A live comic reading, if you didn’t know, is a live performance by a comics artist of their own work, with projected images, music and acting; it’s a magic hybrid of cinema, theatre and animation. It’s turned out to be a great way of sharing comics, a way of pulling them out from under the bedclothes into the light, in front of an audience.
We’ve had a great response. Over the last three years, various permutations of Stray Lines artists have read at:
Alliance Française Fête de la bande dessinée
Helsinki Comics Festival
The Red Line Festival
Kilkenny Animated
Thurles Source Arts Centre
Garter Lane, Waterford
Dublin Art Book Fair
